家作坊“种子交换库”说明
About the HomeShop Seed Exchange Bank
建立种子库的宗旨是在社区居民的帮助下打造一个种子交换的平台以便大家在在不久的未来交换种子使用。从即日起到13日周五，目前在家作坊访问的驻地艺术家皮拉·埃斯库德（”七朵云”）公开征集种子库的标示和存贮设备设计，还有四天。本月14日周六我们举办Waobao！活动，同时所征集到的种子库样式设计将在现场展出。
The objective is to develop a platform for gathering and exchanging different seeds with the support of the community. Current HomeShop artist-in-residence Pilar ESCUDER is hosting an open call for participating in the design of a storage facility and logo for a seed exchange project. On Saturday, 14 July during the WaoBao! swap meet, Pilar will be showing the various submissions for review and critique.
种子库设备的条件 __ If you are interested to participate with a design or have ideas and information to share, please consider some of the conditions for HomeShop’s seed exchange:
- 材料：木头或 其它对环境影响小的材料，请同时考一下如何获取这些材料
- suitable materials: wood or other materials with low environmental impact (please also consider where these materials can be obtained)
- 请注意本设备需要经久耐用
- long-lasting
- 必需可以保存和安排各类种子及土壤
- should be able to contain and organise multiple varieties of seeds and soil
- 干燥避光为种子存储提供一个良好环境
- should maintain dryness and darkness

Today I talked with farmer (at Runtian) about how to keep seeds,
they told it is important to keep
– temperature (to avoid reaching sprouting temperature)
– moisture
and create the environment for those two should be stable so they recommended for fridge.
DRY COOL space.
Other issue is the how to collect seeds:
Seeds usually has many types, Original (organic) F1 (for the first year, always dominant gene shows up) and Genetically Modified Seeds
so how we decide what types of seeds we collect?
Original Seeds – this is now a days quite difficult to find in China that
doesnt go through mass distribution, we have to find out
that someone collects on their own for long time. This
does not have any influence of hybrid, chemically coated
or gene manipulation.
F1 Seeds – this is the main stream seeds that most of us using through
packaged seeds in China and elsewhere. This was
developed through the needs of mass food production that
always grown dominant plant / vegetables and quite similar
shapes and taste. Also, F1 is only possible to survive for the
1st year, so that farmer has to keep buying seeds every year.
If you collect seeds on your own from F1 the second year will
show many of recessive gene. This way, seed company
could control their profit.
GM Seeds – this is more to do with changing the gene so that every
plants are exactly the same (CLONE). Then, usually needs
specific chemicals to spread to the plants to grown farther
more. These sees are developed for counter measure of
food shortage of this world. GM seeds are in my black list.
There is no harm yet to be shown for the human by scientific
research, though I guess it takes 2nd or 3rd generation to
find out some of their gene problems. (So now, people will
say safe). Plus these large corporate are DEVIL and more
