“Protocol is commonly described as a set of international courtesy rules. These well-established and time-honored rules have made it easier for nations and people to live and work together. Part of protocol has always been the acknowledgment of the hierarchical standing of all present. Protocol rules are based on the principles of civility.”

—Dr. P.M. Forni on behalf of the International Association of Protocol Consultants (Wikipedia)

One Response to “notes from the street: more protocol (diplomacy)”

I find this particular quote interesting as it relates to the question of the black market and scalping of tickets. Are the “courtesy rules” understood by all? The practice of nakedly advertising available tickets under the not-so-watchful eye of security is certainly unusual for the average westerner who has only experience scalping pro sports tickets to fall back on. However, I assume what you are getting at is that this swarming mass totally fucks with protocol….totally right, but has civility been lost in the process? I think not…!
